At work I just completed my first book trailer with the company who made this video (I'll share it here soon), and while browsing the other short pieces on their site I came across the story of Wesley the Owl. Owls are challenging pets, (and illegal to keep in the United States) as many people in the United Kingdom found out after the Harry Potter films spurred an interest in keeping them. It's so sweet to see the mutual love between this woman and her owl though — has anyone read the book?

We (my brother) had an owl for a while, in South Africa. His name was Yorick. I think he was a Spotted Eagle Owl. Eventually he was released after a long acclimatizing process. He needed a lot of mice...And left interesting pellets on the living room floor, where he liked to hang out on the back of the sofa.
And we think we are the superior species... Very touching. Thank you for sharing this.
My friend, Sharon, recommended this video and it was wonderful. I confess to tearing up at the end. I then had to scroll around the rest of your site and see what was what. You're right about the weather, by the way. If it were sunny and 78 degrees all the time, half the population would run out of things to say. Looking forward to tomorrow's posting:-)
One of the things my wife misses most about working at the museum in Arcata is bird day, when she got hold Owley on her arm. Owls are amazing.
Very touching!
The bond between them looks amazing. You know I love owls.
