What's your body trying to tell you?

One of two hands painted on the top of a small black cabinet that my first art director gave me for Christmas many years ago.

This weekend a friend and I were talking about her recent experience with a energy worker who listens to one's "inner healer" to discern valuable information about their state of health. I find this concept fascinating, as I often feel compelled to add or subtract a particular food or supplement in my daily routine, not because I feel ill but because of a subtle feeling that my body is trying to tell me something (though I don't always know exactly what). I never considered the possibility that someone else might be able to tap into my inner healer too. I wonder what they would hear?

This winter I feel the messages have been coming fast and furious; cut out the meat, put down the beer, take 2 Turmeric capsules at night, drink 2 oz of Aloe Vera juice daily (a new habit prompted by this post), take 3mg of Melatonin and a cup of Chamomile/Valerian tea before bedtime, buy a Netti pot and use it daily (inspired by several of you who have recently posted about your own  good Netti habits.) Not to mention the chanting, mediation, a new yoga class starting Monday...

I'm all about listening to my sixth sense right now because it was there for me when I needed it in November, prompting me to drive to RI one fateful day early. How many times do we ignore our intuitive natures, too busy to listen or act, too fearful of what others will think of us? Have there been instances when you feel you've benefited, physically or otherwise, by listening to your intuition?

intuition is a very important part to listen to..i think as a mom I have used it so often..

i so enjoy my visits here . be well

I have heard about taking Tumeric. I actually add it occasionally to things but have not purchased tablets yet. Do you notice a difference? And the melatonin? Does it help you sleep better at night? The moon is coming back so my chances of sleeping well are not good until it goes dark again. Maybe the melatonin would help.

The intuitive, I think, always knows the right thing to do.

Hi,

My son had this persistent cough for more than 2 months. We met all the pediatricians, tried all the exotic brew of antibiotics, expectorants, anti-histamines, inhalers, did an x-ray but they were not able to get rid of the cough.

One night, as I was driving back from work, I felt a subtle urge to make a U-turn and have a drink at a particular place. It was half an hour to midnight, but I in the mood to follow the urge.

The place had an open air area where I sat. As I sat there, a peddler came up to me and showed me some wooden roots, plus a few other things. I listened to his sales pitch. He told me that the root is a treatment for asthma.

Again, I felt a subtle persuasion to give him the benefit of doubt. I asked him the price, but I bargained for something one-fourth of the price that he asked. I expected him to negotiate upwards, but instead he immediately agreed, saying that he has a creed to sell his wares at whatever the asking price may be, as long as the buyer is genuine.

The roots are supposed to be steeped in hot water, which is to be drank. After one drink, my son's cough was reduced to a few occasional instances. After a few days, it was gone.

I work in a technical a capacity, and deal with a lot of technicalities. Little room for unsubstantiated or unexplainable beliefs there. Yet I believe in what you wrote in your article.

I believe that we have known only a tiny bit of what there is to be known, and the tools at our disposal - namely logic and observations - barely scratch the surface. A few hundred years ago, radio would have been called sorcery, yet we take it for granted now, thanks to newfound knowledge.

I believe that there is a dynamic interaction between ourselves, the Earth, and the Universe, and possibly things beyond the Universe in ways that we do not have the tools to examine or develop an understanding of. It is like the nature of sleep - we do not comprehend it fully, yet we do it everyday.

That you for article. It is good to receive an occasional affirmation from others every now and then that these beliefs are true.

I wrote briefly about searching a cure for my son's cough at http://firedancerx.spaces.live.com

I like all these health based posts you have done. Lucky is the person who can listen/hear their intuition and inner wisdom. I believe to a certain extent others can see another's inner workings too but I have always thought that most often a lot of it is about themselves.

I think that as a child/ younger person I trusted my instincts and listened to them quite well. Unfortunately; somewhere along the way I got out of the habit... deafened my ears to it. I am now trying to get it back...
