Burnt
This was a beautiful and historic place — a beloved old church surrounded by green, set against a backdrop of rising hills — and a true hub of community. I never attended services there, but know many who do. This article from the Northampton Gazette describes the resiliency of the parishoners quite nicely.

That's so sad. I hope they get to rebuild it. The most important part of a church, though, is the people.
Very sad, to lose such a beautiful building and the focal point for an entire community. I take photos of the little old churches around my home town in Delaware and Maryland every time I go back, and it always comforts me that they stand the test of time, and still play such a vital role in the communities. Several of them look so much like yours, I can imagine how devastating the burned building must look. JC's right though, the people will survive, and rebuild. It's what we do.
Thanks for sharing.

there and then gone.
