Hear:• This week I discovered that the cat snores, almost at loud as the dog. Maybe sleeping by the heat of the wood stove brings out everyone's inner wheeze.
• 50mph gusts rattling the frosted windows in their frames, tearing the tarp away from the woodpile and waving it in the air
• Crinkling newspaper as I unwrap fragile treasures from my mom's hutch
• A cacophony of instruments being played in our friend's wood-shop-turned-music-studio
• J's chainsaw whining by the woodshed
See:
• The old man in the moon poking his head above the treeline
• Slowly unfolding petals of a vermillion hued Amarylis
• In the light of the full winter moon, the shadows of trees laying down on the snow
Taste:• Homemade peach pie, a taste of summer
• Honey lemon cough drops, ginger lemon tea
• Chicken soup
• Gingerbread cake baked by J
Touch:
• Hollow, marbleized eggs, light as air
• This week it's been bitter cold enough to warrant the use of an electric blanket while I sit up in bed reading, making me feel a like a slice of human toast
• The almost-dead battery of my laptop bulging out of its compartment. Who knew an old battery could be so badly behaved?
Smell:• Honestly, thanks to this cold/flu I haven't been able to smell a thing all week, even when I tried
Feel:
• My head still feels as if it's stuffed with cotton
• Nervous about an all-day work meeting tomorrow, at which I need to make a presentation I haven't had a chance to prepare for
• Glad to be well enough to go back to kirtan tonight, but paranoid I'm going to cough disruptively the whole time

Such beautiful photos!
oh the panes of glass!
Do the best you can at work all day..
presentation..it will be fine
then rest..rest rest
and a little soup wouldn't hurt
....unwrapping is a good thing
Hope you feel better soon. Love the wreath on the frosted pane. We have a few that look like that this weekend too. Stay warm.
Hope you get to feeling better soon. Good luck with the presentation. Love the photos. Those red glasses are lovely.
Mmm, peach pie sounds amazing right now.
I really like that photo with the light bulb!
I hope you feel better soon!
Yes, I agree with JC...the bulb is incredible! Of course, the red glasses are a hit with me too, red being my favorite color! What is it about red that is so wonderful??? I want to eat all these wonderful things with you and J. How do you do it and remain so thin?? That is the question!
wow, the pictures are incredible. I loved the one with the wreathe silhouette on the icy looking door. It's a wonderful exercise, what you have written today. I identified with each one, even though I am living a different life today in a totally different place... that was enlightening. We all know that sound of unwrapping treasures from their newspaper....
Feel better! Advil helps me when I have to push through business when not 100%. I rarely take it otherwise...
Thanks all, I am on the mend, but will probably still be coughing a month from now!
Teri, you are not the first person to wonder about my weekly food indulgences! I do work out 3-4 times a week, 20-40 minutes on the eliptical and 45-60 minutes in the weight room. I've been sticking to this schedule (or more) for about 14 years now, so I think my metabolism is fairly ramped up. Also, having some muscle weight burns more calories, which makes up for the fact that I can't find shirts to fit my shoulders, ha!
Beautiful photographs. So... did the kirtan remove the cotton from your head and unstuff your nose?
Hope you're feeling better m and that your presentation went well. Wonderful photos. What a bummer for us too that you couldn't smell even though you tried.
I miss having an electric blanket. But you need it more than I do.
The crinkcle of newspaper got to me.
My cat Gracie snores like a man. The first time I heard it I couldn't figure out where it was coming from.
Gingerbread cake made my J sounds yum. My mom used to put cool whip and then gum drops on top.
Thanks for another wonderful SSS.
(Oh, your comment on my recent blog had me roaring at work. Had to look those things up. CRAZY!)
I'm feeling so sorry for you that you couldn't smell that peach pie!...that just sounds like an amazing bit of summer to have in the middle of winter:)
Hope your presentation went well and I hope that you are feeling much better...Love the wreath on the window...
