My brother Ken, J and I will be ushering in the new year in NYC, where we're headed for 4 nights after Christmas. The three of us should have time to visit lots of spots that J and I normally don't slow down enough to catch - like museums (Kandinsky at the Guggenheim! Jain manuscript paintings at The Met!). We're also going to see Fela! at the Eugene O'Neil Theater, a production described by Time Out New York as "more than a musical; it's an ecstatic phenomenon." Whoo-hoo! Bring on the ecstasy! I think we deserve it.Sunday, December 13, 2009

you do. enjoy!
Go forth and enjoy...
the noise of the city
its beat
its bustle
dance
life
Sounds like great fun. Do tell when you return.
Enjoy and take the time to notice the small enjoyments in life.
You do deserve it. Enjoy the trip.
sounds like a wonderful way to usher in the new year. may your all have a blast. I love hearing about how you and others treat yourselves to something special.
It will do you good to go and let your hair down a bit in the buzz and bustle of the big smoke! I went away by myself the last two NYE's to the mountains. This year it's time for friends and partying a bit too...
Turns out we're going to be in NYC over New Year, a first for me, as V's greencard interview is in the middle of January, when we should have been in SA.
If you can, stop in at Flatbush Farm off Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn. I think you will like it.
Looks like fun! Kandinsky is nuts!! Afrobeat is a blast!!!
Oooohhh....Kandinsky! I can't wait to see and hear all about it. One of my favorites! I just read an article about Flatbush. It looks really creative there.
I bet it'll be a wonderful trip !
Sounds great, I hope you all have fun!
OMG this looks stupendous and I wish I still lived in NYC to go see it. I might be there in February, but it will proably be gone by then. I did forward the news to several friends there and encouraged them to check it out. Let us know how it was when you get back and have a great time!
PS: New York is so fabulous to go to during the holidays. I was back there last year over New Years and everything is still up to go see, with less Christmas crowd... the 10 block walk of windows from Bergdorf's to Saks which opens out to the Rock Center tree and ice rink, lined with larger than life toy soldiers and gold, red and green lame flags snapping in the chill wind... I always think it's best to do that in the dusk or evening, as the lights and the store windows look more amazing then. Either start with a hot toddy at the Oak Room in the Plaza hotel (and pretend you are Barbara Streisand waiting to brush Hubble's bangs off his forehead) or after at the bar at the top of Rock Center. Both will cost you about $15 each, but it's WORTH IT! :-)
