Checking In

All I can seem to do lately is read and think. Which makes it hard to write. But I wanted to post this out-of-focus photo of tree branches at the Montague Book Mill and say hello. I hope you're all taking time to relax and breathe in the holiday rush.

Hey Melanie,
Thinking of you! I hope you have a restorative holiday season and that your time away with loved ones helps you find some peace ....
Keep warm and cosy (it's 103 degrees here in Melbourne today - ugh!).

Treat your soul gently, gently. Your Mom would want you to.

This photo looks like I have been feeling. I guess it is just the season. Sadness overwhelms me at this time of year and losing a good friend because of a misunderstanding makes it all that much more painful. Soon, life will be back in focus for us both. Your trip will help you unwind and escape for a bit. Thanks for checking in.

When we lose someone we love, life drifts out of focus. When it becomes clear again, the view is different. Keep thinking and reading and taking deep breaths and know your mom is there with you, bringing you back to light.

Definitely missing your daily words, but reading and thinking are good. (I agree with margieandkath's thought.)

Did you post about "Crossing the Unknown Sea," or was it someone else? I got it out of the library yesterday and I'm hooked.

Thanks for checking in.
Read and think away.
It's one of the reasons your writing is so powerful, amazing and right on.

Reading and thinking...two of life's gifts. Sometimes it is all we need to do, never mind all we can do.

Your out of focus photograph is a perfect description of where you are in your life right now.

All you need to do is remember to breathe and to find peace within yourself.

This is a good time for reading and thinking. I'm reading along with your thoughts when you do post. If I don't always comment lately it's only because I'm doing a lot of thinking, too, but I always love coming here to read and visit with you, even from afar. Hope you are well. I know this holiday season must be a very hard one for you. I lost my father just a few days after Christmas many, many years ago, and the ache has never left me. I often find myself wanting to retreat just at the very moment I'm expected to be most social, most lively. I'd rather curl up with a book and my cats and a warm fire.

Thinking of you and sending you a hug. xo Gigi

Reading and thinking while healing emotionally and spiritually are the kindest and most effective things you can do for yourself at this time. I wish you strength and peace during the holidays.

It's good sometimes to just read and think. Hope you're doing OK.
