These images give the impression that this particular cemetery is in complete disrepair, but that is not really the case. I just find the toppled statuary and stones striking, sinking quietly into the grass — did someone push them over, or was a strong wind responsible? There are broken bits everywhere, engraved letters filled with rain, stones covered in moss. Thankfully nobody takes them, or so it appears.

these are lovely
Amazing stuff. All taken in one place?
Absolutely lovely, you have a good eye! What a fantastic old graveyard. There is a small near one my my mom's house I visit whenever I get back to Delaware. I wonder why we find them so fascinating and beautiful? The moss and water ones really speak to me....thanks for sharing.
Occasionally a local historian gives a talk & walk tour of this cemetery. If you haven't already been on one, it might be worth sticking around one weekend to join in.
Usually this website has news of the tour schedules:

Lakeviewer, yes, and I only went through about half of it at the most! The shots I posted on Halloween were from another nearby cemetery. I think there are more dead people here than living!
Mel, the moss was really thick here. Also I failed to mention that there's a thick carpet of thyme underfoot at both of these cemeteries...how did I forget that?
Fran, thanks! I'll keep an eye on that!

YUMMY, and spookalishious at the same time!!

What lovely pics. I so love old graveyards. Not only are they aestheically beautiful, they are also so filled with peace and solace.
The angel with the light in the trees is my favourite...
Wherever I go, somehow I end up visiting cemeteries :)

There is a certain peacefulness I find there, a meeting with past lives that leaves me wondering about the meaning of being and about my connection to the universe.
Your place looks lovely-earth taking over and all. Like it should me-earth covering us like a blanket.
Love your shots!
I just watched a movie last night "The Stone Angel" with Ellen Burstyn and your angel from the cemetery looks exactly like the one that was featured in the movie. I love walking our local cemetery too but I do not think that we have anything quite so lovely as your stone angel. Good photos.
Lots of interesting leaves to look at.
