Flying Fish?

Nope — it's a fence full of painted river trout, left over from this weekend's Hoosic River Festival.

A cheery sight for a Monday morning.

I think more fences need art. These reminded me a little of the 911 Memorial Tile fence on 7th Ave in West Greenwich Village, though far less serious of course.

Jackson Pollock trout?

Trout behind bars.

Have you come across any fence art lately?

Love the shadow shot.

This was a great idea. The fence kind of looks like a net.

I once saw a fence at an elementary school with various designs created by placing red, white, and blue plastic cups in the holes between the fence links. I thought it was kinda cool.

Well, you know my feelings about street art!
Once, playing tennis, someone whacked a ball that stuck in the mesh fence and from that, some kids got the idea of poking all the old balls(now coloured with various paints and inks)into the fence.

I really love that last photo--the way the chain link pattern seems to be part of the fish. These are just great! Here in Lowell, just a few blocks from my house, we have a huge dragon on a fence. He's made entirely out of recycled CDs and plywood, and he's quite beautiful; his CD-scales glisten in the sunshine!

Hmmm, old balls, cups, cd's and plywood...sounds like fences inspire a certain kind of recycled style adornment! Gigi I would love to see this dragon!
