Sun Before Storm, Light Before Dark

I quietly tried to sneak up on the light and mood with my camera last night, to capture those fleeting moments of end-of-day, pre-storm pink. Out-of-focus shots have been intriguing me lately (and I'm not the only one!). With the exception of a slight crop on the first image, these are straight out of the camera.

It's funny, as soon as I see a blurry photo, it instantly jumps out at me yelling! I love this one... I love the way the sunlight reflects of the windows with shining bokeh! And thanks for the link to my project :) Hope you post more blurry photos too...

I love the last one the best.

I like the blurred, grainy, out of focus shots, too. I don't know why.

Maybe it's the post post modernist in me.

I always think people will think it's just because I'm a bad photographer that I take messy shots, but it's because I like them. That's my amateur insecurity showing through. And maybe because I don't have the technical ability, I look for the positive in the mistakes I make, and experiment with that.

They are all nice - love the soft lighting best, always.

Am curious - is the one with the wreath on the other side of the sheers and paned glass a window or a door? I have a thing for doors lately - been thinking of doing a quilt series depicting doors for a year or so.

Thanks Sheila. That's actually the front door of the house that doesn't get used (it's now sealed shut). There was a wonderful rustic wood door over it when we first bought the house (and insulation stuffed in between the windowed and wooden doors) but it started to warp and we removed it. It also blocked a lot of light. Here's a post of reflections looking outside in (pre curtains)

If I can find a photo of the old door I will scan it in and post it for you - the one I'm thinking of was taken in winter and I think you'll find it inspiring for your quilt! That's an intriguing concept for a quilt, btw.

Hi, I'm just blog surfing and found yours. You're right. unfocused photos are intriquing. I loved the wreath behind the sheers. Lovely light.
