photo friday - the city
i snapped three photos of the lush green sheep meadow in central park last june and merged them to create an image for this week's photo friday challenge. in rural areas, like the place i live, there's plenty of private space, and local parks (if there are any) tend to remain empty even on the most pleasant of days. privacy has it's merits, but there's something comforting about enjoying a gorgeous summer day (or even a soggy, stormy one) as part of a larger community.
i've been browsing through the images submitted to photo friday, and i found this one so amazing i have to mention it here. i keep looking back at it, and every time i do, my heart skips a beat. though i'm not fond of flying (to put it mildly — i'm actually terrified and refuse to fly anywhere, for anything), i'll have to make an exception if i'm to fulfill my dream of visiting japan with j for my 40th birthday. luckily i have 4 years to gather up both my courage and money. that also gives me some time to learn a little japanese. それはよい事である!
so far, all of the photos on this site have been taken with a canon powershot sd550 digital elph. i love it's compact size and ease of use, but i think it's almost time to graduate to a digital slr and some fun lenses...maybe another canon, or a pentax. any suggestions?
